Dining like royalty in Hakone
Our experience at Gyokutei was truly remarkable. The multi-course kaiseki dinner was a culinary highlight, and the staff made us feel incredibly welcomed and valued. A major delight was the private onsen in our room, providing a serene retreat after our daily escapades. Each morning, we were greeted with vibrant breakfasts served in our room, setting a perfect tone for the day ahead, even if it meant an early start. The children's amenities were a thoughtful touch, making the experience enjoyable for everyone.
Although the stay was mostly enjoyable, the steep slope from the Hakone-Yumoto station made dragging luggage a bit laborious, especially after a long day of sightseeing. Additionally, the rigid breakfast and dinner timings were a challenge for us, limiting flexibility in our schedule. Even so, the quick baggage delivery service provided a reliable solution for transporting our heavier items.

Had an awesome time with friends! The food was delicious and offered variety daily. We also loved the onsen experience. super relaxing after a day of exploring. The location, while on a steep slope, was just a short walk to the train station, making it convenient for sightseeing, especially when visiting nearby temples or enjoying the beautiful scenery.
One downside was the strict timing for breakfast. It was served early at 8:30 AM, which was a bit tough for us to adjust to, especially after long days out.

An exceptional experience awaited us, especially with the impeccable presentation and taste of every dish served during our multi-course meals—fresh seafood was a highlight that delighted the entire family. The onsen, nestled in a tranquil setting, provided a perfect place for relaxation after our daily adventures. However, be prepared for a steep walk from the nearby train station, which can be tricky with luggage. Additionally, having breakfast so early at 8 AM required some adjustment, especially after long days out exploring.

The onsen experience was fantastic, especially for our teenage kids who loved soaking in the warm waters while enjoying the beautiful forest garden view. The multi-course dinners were a delightful culinary adventure that even our picky eaters enjoyed, bringing smiles all around.
My children wished for better signage to direct us to the ryokan.
